Senior Technical Project Manager

JOB OVERVIEW

We're seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to expertly manage projects within the VASTech Projects group, specializing in telephony, satellite, and fiber technologies.

You'll guide these projects through their entire lifecycle, taking ownership of planning, execution, and delivery for diverse projects, both internal and external.

Duties and responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

Project Initiation & Definition:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and objectives, creating detailed work-breakdown structures, schedules, and deliverables that align with technical and business requirements.

Comprehensive Project Planning:

  • Develop detailed project plans and communication strategies to ensure seamless cross-functional execution.
  • Identify and manage technical dependencies and critical paths, utilizing appropriate project management tools.
  • Establish and lead cross-functional project teams, providing ongoing prioritization and guidance.
  • Plan and execute technical rollout strategies, including documentation and communication.
  • Accurately estimate resource requirements and negotiate resource allocation with other departments.

Financial & Resource Management:

  • Create and manage project budgets within SAGE, ensuring accurate tracking and control of expenditures.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and resolve team conflicts to maintain project momentum.

Risk & Issue Mitigation:

  • Proactively identify and assess technical risks and issues, developing and implementing effective mitigation plans.
  • Maintain a risk register and actively manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Execution & Delivery:

  • Implement robust change management processes, ensuring smooth transitions from project to operational phases.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including internal divisions, customers, and group management, providing regular progress updates.
  • Conduct site visits to customer and project implementation sites when needed.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations and progress to team members and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Measure client satisfaction, and gather client requirements, feature requests, and bug reports, and provide feedback to the client.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to cross-functional teams, including Order Fulfilment, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering, throughout all project phases.
  • Review sales and technical proposals during presales stages.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (Informatics), or a related technical field (Bachelor of Technology, 3/4 year).
  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in Technical Project Management or a relevant technical field.
  • Well-established experience in a specialist technical domain, preferably telecommunications transmission, switching/PABX, radio/RF/satellite communication, military, or large-scale IT infrastructure systems.
  • Experience in Change, Baseline, Configuration, Incident/Problem, Service, and Delivery Management principles (advantageous).

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Strong proficiency in MS Project, Mind maps, Visio, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven knowledge and practical experience working with complex technology systems.
